Deep in learning science. Deep in the tools.

Most AI guidance comes from one side or the other. The useful decisions happen where they meet.

INTRODUCTION

Intrepid Scholar brings together developmental psychology, decades of teaching experience, and hands-on work with AI to help schools rethink teaching and learning for a world in which students have access to another source of intelligence.

FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL

Meet Robert Moeller, PhD

Robert is a developmental psychologist, educator, and researcher who has spent more than twenty years studying and teaching how young people learn and develop. That perspective shapes how he approaches AI.

For the last several years he has worked directly with AI in classrooms and educational settings, teaching students to build with it, including GPTs and AI agents. That work has been informed by leading a college initiative in partnership with OpenAI focused on the ethical and productive use of AI in education. He has worked with independent schools, public school districts, colleges, teachers, administrators, boards, and parents as they navigate what this shift means for teaching and learning.

What connects all of it is the same goal: helping educators make better decisions about when students need practice, struggle, feedback, structure, and independence, and where AI can support those processes without replacing them.

"The question is not what these tools can do. It is what students need to learn to do themselves, and where AI can support that without taking over the thinking education is meant to cultivate."

Robert led a college initiative focused on the ethical and productive use of AI in education.

Across the field

Robert has worked with independent schools, public districts, colleges, teachers, administrators, boards, and parents navigating what this shift means.

A small team, by design

Every engagement is led by Robert. Depending on scope, the work is supported by a small team with complementary expertise in implementation, program design, and organizational change.

Joseph Siesholtz, MBA

Joseph helps turn strategy into practice. With ten years of education-focused advising and coaching experience, he supports larger engagements with stakeholder alignment, program rollout, and the work required to move from a strong workshop to sustained practice.
